Frequently asked questions
How long do they last?
The heels and toes are reinforced and the sole cushioned, so they hold up well over rough terrain. Merino is naturally hard-wearing, and a pair lasts many seasons with proper care.
How do they fit?
They come in S–XL. Use your usual shoe-size guide on the sizing chart — a snug but not tight fit, with no bunching, works best on the trail.
How do I wash them?
Machine-wash on a cool wool cycle with a little wool detergent, and line-dry. Avoid high heat and fabric softener, which can felt the wool.
Do they itch?
The fine New Zealand merino we use is soft next to skin, so most people find it comfortable without a liner. If your skin is very sensitive, our merino liner sits nicely underneath.
Are these socks warm when wet?
Yes. Merino insulates even when damp, unlike cotton which clings cold when wet. A soaked merino sock still keeps your foot noticeably warmer.
Why is merino good for hiking?
Merino's crimped fibres trap air and wick moisture, so it keeps you warm even when damp, dries quickly, and naturally holds odour far less than synthetics over a few days.
